Associate Professor Tan Zhong Xing

Counsel

Tan Zhong Xing obtained his LL.B. from the NUS Law Faculty and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, subsequently being appointed Assistant Professor at the NUS Law Faculty. Prior to entering academia, Zhong Xing practised corporate and commercial dispute resolution at a local law firm.

His research, teaching and areas of practice are in contract and commercial law generally, and he has written on areas including contract law, tort law, corporate shareholder disputes, and various other topics relating to civil litigation.

Zhong Xing’s writings are published in leading law journals, at both the international and local levels, including the Modern Law ReviewLegal StudiesJournal of Business LawJournal of Contract LawJournal of Corporate Law Studies and others.

He has been the recipient of various awards, including the Hart Publishing Prize for the best paper by an early career scholar at the Ninth Biennial Conference on the Law of Obligations, and previously, Harvard Law School’s Project on the Foundations of Private Law Prize, as well as the Montrose Memorial Prize for Jurisprudence and the Wong Peng Koon Prize for Best Directed Research Paper at NUS Law.

Zhong Xing has a keen interest in meshing academic aspects of law with cutting-edge practice and is available to advise on issues within his sphere of expertise.
