Timothy Hsu

Associate

Timothy specialises in dispute resolution and is particularly interested in criminal defence work. Since being called to the Singapore Bar, he has assisted on matters across the full spectrum of the local legal system, from the State Courts to the Court of Appeal.

Timothy holds an LL.B. (Second Class Upper) from the National University of Singapore.

Outside of work, Timothy is an avid football fan who enjoys watching and playing football in his free time.

Sample Cases

• Assisted in the defence of an accused person for inciting feelings of ill-will amongst racial and religious groups at trial.

• Assisted in the defence of an accused person who was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code (voluntarily causing grievous hurt).

• Assisted in the defence of an accused person against multiple charges for corrupt gratification under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused had allegedly bribed a support officer in Changi Airport Group to alter the airside driving permit records of his drivers.

• Assisted a multi-national insurance company in an arbitration matter over the valuation of a South-East Asian entity it had acquired, with the disputed amount being worth US$30 million.

• Assisted in a successful defence against an appeal in the Appellate Division of the High Court concerning a dispute over a family business.

Volunteer Work

• Represented and successfully obtained an adoption order for a family.

• Criminal Legal Aid Scheme: Defending an accused person against a charge under Section 5(1) of the Organised Crime Act for participating in scam operations that took place in Cambodia.
